We have 3 talks & speakers for you in March. Firstly, we are delighted to have fantastic David Low (@daviddlow) who will be sharing his insights on how/when you should be using Alexa. Our second talk will be by the amazing Stephanie Gooch who will be teaching you how to use your AWS Cost & Usage report. Finally we have the terrific Veliswa Boya (@vel12171) on how Aerobotics leverages AWS to analyse pests and diseases on crops using drone imagery

Talk 1:

Everything You Know Is Wrong with David Low

Voice has been democratised by Amazon and in particular, Alexa services living on AWS. And yet after Alexa’s 6th birthday, the technology remains nascent and many developers still have no real idea of customer value, whether to even begin a voice service or how to integrate one into their current stack.

Many early attempts to create voice services focused on ‘assistance’, but in truth where mobile brought you distractions to the extent we track our ‘screen time’, voice is there to get some of that time back. It’s about context, information on demand, fast and accurate responses, proactive messaging where it’s appropriate and most of all, creating delight.

David Low is a Principal Consultant at Waracle, helping the company and its clients figure out what’s next, and how to get there.

David has held several technical leadership roles during a career spanning over 20 years, and, prior to joining Waracle, created and led the Developer Relations team at Skyscanner which led to one of the world’s first Alexa Skills partnerships and ultimately a period building the Alexa Solutions Architecture team across the EU, and a key role scaling up the BBC’s new Voice & AI division.

Talk 2:
Getting the Most From Your Cost and Usage Report with Stephanie Gooch

When utilizing AWS Services you incur costs and to get the most granular data about these cost you can use the AWS Cost and Usage Report. This data can give you a window into your utilization across your organization.

In this session, learn how you can use AWS Cost & Usage Report, your AWS Organisation data and Athena Queries to enrich your experience with your data and get the most from it. We will also be covering AWS native services that can help you in this process.
